STAR exits myflexbox

STAR Capital Partnership LLP ("STAR") is pleased to announce that the STAR IV Fund has completed the sale of 100% of myflexbox, one of the most relevant operators of open-access parcel lockers in Austria and Germany, to DeinFach, a 100% subsidiary of Deutsche Post AG. Deutsche Post AG intends to combine myflexbox with DeinFach, its open-access locker platform in Germany, while continuing to operate under the myflexbox brand.
Founded in Salzburg in 2018, myflexbox installs, owns and operates automated, carrier-agnostic parcel lockers: next-generation last-mile infrastructure that allows multiple carriers, e-commerce providers and consumers to send, collect and return parcels through a single shared network.
STAR IV invested in myflexbox in April 2023 and has since worked closely with the founder team, Jonathan Grothaus (CEO) and Peter Klima (CTO), providing the growth capital and support to institutionalise the organisation and scale the network. Over the following three and a half years myflexbox has grown its network more than seven-fold, to c. 3,000 locations, and become the most relevant open-access locker network in the DACH region. The company has built a best-in-class proprietary software that allows for a seamless customer experience and holds long-term, index-linked contracts with blue-chip carriers. The intended combination with DeinFach strengthens that position in Germany and forms part of Deutsche Post AG's open-access roll-out strategy.
myflexbox has the Strategic Asset characteristics that STAR seeks in all its investments: (i) it provides mission-critical last-mile infrastructure through a strategic physical asset base, exposed to the structural growth of e-commerce and out-of-home delivery; (ii) it holds a significant and defensible position in the growing out-of-home market, underpinned by sticky, long-term carrier and landlord relationships and a proprietary turnkey hardware and software platform; and (iii) it generates contracted, recurring, index-linked revenues from blue-chip counterparties.
